(Woody) Woodward - World War II - Chief Ronalds Lieutenant for Eastern U.S. Dear Veteran, I write these word to you because I know what your sacrifice means, “Freedom.” So many do not understand, “Freedom is not free.” Freedom is bought at a price; the price is the shedding of blood to keep us free from those that would harm us and destroy our freedoms. Our forefathers gave us this freedom, but they knew that it could be lost. I believe that is why you serve, because you believe in your heart that you are preserving our rights to pass on to the next generation. For that, “I Salute You.” Some of you have passed on, yet others are still here protecting us and what we believe in, “Freedom.” Thank you for your “Service to your country.” Thank you for your “Sacrifices.” Thank you for the “Respect” that you show to others that do not understand. In the end it is worth it. Why do I say these words? I am a Viet Nam vet. I was considered a baby killer; I was hated by my own countrymen. There was no Respect or Honor to many of us at that time in history. I “Honor You” for what you have done. You have brought the “Honor and Respect” back. Thank you for allowing me to feel proud again; to stand up and salute the flag again, with the pride that I lost so many years ago. Thank you for making me feel, my service had purpose. Thank You, An Old Veteran
