COMETH THE MAN, COMETH THE JOKER- ‘’DESPERADO’’- - With the outbreak of the Ebola virus in Sierra Leone, our nation has not been short of attention both internally (from politicians, business org, entrepreneurs, est. est.) and externally(from the international community and donor partners) in helping to contain and eradicate this DEADLY VIRUS. We have also seen unprecedented cooperation on both sides of the political isle as government, ministers, MP’s, councilors and even flag-bearer aspirants of the SLPP(MY INTEREST AREA) playing their part, in what we all agree is a ‘’national service’’ for the benefit of all. Over the past weeks and months we have seen several SLPP Flag-bearer aspirants helping out. John Opongo Benjamin has played his part as he regularly travels the south and eastern province visiting hospitals, talking to nurses and doctors(a few of whom he took photos with have died recently i.e. Dr Khan), giving financial assistance to people and many more. The young man Ernest Ndomianah (Ernest for Ernest) was in his home town of Moyamba last week with bags of rice and money as his contribution towards the fight against the Ebola virus. There is Kandeh Kolleh Yumkellah(KKY) Movement who in the last two weeks were in Kenema, donating rice(500) and money to health practitioners and communities on behalf of their leader, whilst Kandeh himself has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars( using his good relationship in the international community) towards the fight against Ebola. Kandeh hasn’t come but his presence and contribution has been well felt. There is also Andrew Karmoh Keili, CEEMATS Executive Director; Andrew has given financial support to; the SLPP Kialahun District executive (towards their sensitization programme on Ebola), Council of Chief’s Kialahun District, has travelled to Kenema on a fact finding mission at the Kenema govt hospital, gave his contribution to the Golf Club of which he is a member(the Golf Club donated fifty million Leones to the President when they visited State House but Andrew was not part of that visit). All the afore mentioned intending flag-bearer aspirants have done their bit towards this fight even though i believe all of them would have had one eye on the positive political implications, their efforts would bring them(very natural for me as they’ve all ventured into politics). The common factors in all of their efforts are; 1. None of them visited the President to give their personal contributions(bear in mind that only people representing groups, organisations, companies ect ect have gone to State House on behalf of the organisations they represent) 2. They have all done their bit out of their own personal finances and without asking their supporters/well-wishers to help out 3. There was no media hype prior to their efforts (appropriate in my view as the seriousness of this situation does not warrant a VUVUZELA approach) and even their post-media approach has been measured (not extravagant and not reckless) thus respecting the sensitive nature of our country’s effort in fighting this disease. I honestly felt that this was a good precedent being set by these intending flag-bearer aspirants which would be considered by others as they join (or should i say; play their part) in our nations effort in kicking out the disease. TOTALLY WRONG WAS I. One man choose to do his differently; ‘’COMETH THE MAN, COMETH THE JOKER (MAADA BIO). His usual suspects started writing ‘letters from afar’ about DESPERADO’S position on his behalf. A few phone calls came through to me from America telling me that they have been contacted by people (wrongly assuming that, they were supporting Maada Bio) in the United Kingdom asking them to contribute, and help raise money for DESPERADO, as he wanted to travel to Freetown and contribute towards the fight against EBOLA; THEY REFUSED AND INSTEAD LEAKED THE INFORMATION (Ask Jimmy Batillo Songa to tell you more before i reveal it all). We have also seen DESPERADO’S co-jokers; Senesi Jannie tarawally and others, carrying headlines such as ‘’cometh the hour, cometh the man’’, ‘’Maada Bio flies home to help in the fight against Ebola’’ days before he travelled, as if he had a magic wand, or was the final piece in our country’s jigsaw to deal with the EBOLA problem!!!!!! And now the JOKE has continued as the DESPERADO has arrived in Freetown (he could simply have done a ‘Kandeh Yumkella’; since we were made to believe that apart from his studies, DESPERADO was also engaged in diplomatic activities- thanks to Senesi Jannie Tarawally & Co for that story). DESPERADO’S first port of call was State House to see the President (please note that before now Desperado and his co-jokers have characterized anyone who has attempted to answer a call for national service as been sell-outs, SLPP pretenders, not working in the interest of the party ect); here is DESPERADO, literally courting a call to serve his nation rather than allowing the President, to ask him to serve. Why did he go to State House?? Did he make any donation on behalf of his registered (fraudulent) charity in the UK?? NONE!! Or was he representing some other organisations that we don’t know of?? How about the monies Jimmy Battilo Songa and others helped raise for you on the pretext that you wanted to give your own contribution towards the fight?? Why all this political gimmick when your actual reason(you claimed) for coming to Freetown was to help fight Ebola(or na de EBOLA wae don holh you pocket na em na de real reason wae make you cam tong??) . DESPERADO, the man firmly rooted to the ‘grasses’ (as he claims) has chosen deliberately i suspect, to avoid his grassroots since there is a state of emergency ( remember the song by INNOCENT- ‘’nor to kraise are kraise oh, na powah nomor r want oh, nor to kraise r kraise oh..........’’) Some of us thought the joke was all over yesterday when he visited State House and donated nothing but himself; Wrong again was i. Desperado was on FM-98.1 this morning saying ‘’are nor bring natin cam wit me, en r noh get money foh ge but r go ge me yone donation later’’. What has’’ DESPERADO’’ really come to Freetown for??? DESPERADO’S EFFORT reminds me of a boy who once boasted amongst his friends that his father died leaving him a great family fortune; when asked by his friends curiously what the fortune was, he replied back saying, FATHERLY BLESSINGS;) COMETH THE MAN TO FREETOWN, COMETH THE JOKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.
