COMING DECEMBER 2013 T.A.Z. COMMUNIQUE #1 This artifact comprises one anti-record, one text on paper, one CD-R, and one rubber band. These are part of an expression of Luddite or acoustic noise, which is to say an expression of freedom. While putting acoustic noise on an electric disc and advertisements for it online is essentially a contradiction in terms, the artifact is intentionally made to only be propaganda. Each “song” on/in the disc is representative of experiments in acoustic noise; you are being allowed to hear them in order to encourage more experiments. Some recordings are of gramophones being played together, others are of individuals improvising live without the use of any electricity, two are of shellac discs recorded using an old phonograph horn recorder, one is just the sounds of shellac discs being scratched, a few show the results of painting over 7-inches, theres a prank call to a psychic medium, another is a magickal dulcimer ditty inspired by Austin Osman Spare that was randomly made while breaking into a roughly 4,000 year old Native American religious site, there’s even a blues song played on acoustic guitar – without permission – in a cemetery at night, etc. In the future, there will be no electronic compact disc and even more off-the-grid secrecy, honestly, in order to become more authentic. If you want the real thing, just listen to the painted anti-record on a gramophone, or better yet, use this thing to beat a rhythm on a desk or just use the rubber band to make a guitar.
