COMMENTARY: What is the infatuation with playing 8pm Little League all-star games? We feel that lights are a great asset and gives flexibility on scheduling,especially with bad weather or long games. But playing under the lights is a difficult transition for kids who havent experienced that opportunity. Is it a level playing field? Is it fair? Going from light to twilight to under the lights is a very difficult transition for Major League players let alone for 10 year olds. Its our opinion that lights should only be used when needed in double header situations or delayed games, they shouldnt be used as part of the official schedule. Also..we would be even okay with an occasional night games on weekends, but to play LATE games during the work week is challenging to say the least for working parents. With that said..go watch a game and support the local little leaguers...its FREE and its fun to watch!
