COMMON CORE- Nick brought home a homework page from his advanced math class. He asked me to read through a story problem with him to make sure he understood it. At the top of the page was a statement about Common Core. I am paraphrasing because I dont have the paper with me but, Math is no longer an exact science. It is possible with the new Common Core way of teaching that students may come up with many answers and they will be graded on the most common answer. WHAT????? EXCUSE ME????? NO, there is one answer, it is the correct answer! WTF?????? There are no gray areas in Math. The value of the numbers dont change. Teach the kids the proper way or we will have a bunch of idiots graduating from out schools! Get this junk out of our schools now!!!!!!! I do hope the teachers are fighting this crap rather than just going along with it. If you want to know the exact wording of this statement, I will try to get it from him to post it tomorrow. I am so pissed off about this I cant see straight.
