(C) CORRESPONDENCE AND STATE OF THE ASSOCIATION A petition dated 29th July, 2014 received by the Clerk of the Senate was read to the hearing of all Senators sited. The petition was written by the National Vice President, Director of Socials and the P.R.O alleging that the president, the Gen Sec., and the Deputy Senate President have mismanaged and misappropriated a sum of money totaling over 6.5 million naira since the commencement of the central executive council administration. The Senate President also gave an account of the journey so far, where he mentioned how the Senate was prevented from being inaugurated on 19th of December 2013. when the Senate-setting at the College of Health Technology, Akure was stopped abruptly when the Executive President, his Gen. Sec. and Fin. Sec. came in company of some paid political thugs, later identified as ‘Eye confraternity’ members, beating mercilessly to the state of coma any Senator who dare challenge them on why they are preventing the Senate from being inaugurated. Another allegation against the Aforementioned was that the they, without notification and proper disbursement as provided by the constitution received from the scholarship board a total lump sum of 1.3 million naira, the national due extracted from the bursary registration fee. The money should have being shared among the two arms, namely the executive and the legislature and the respective chapters as assistance funding. The President only accounted for 200 thousand naira which he claimed he kept for the programme proposed to come up by September 6th 2014, without a kobo being given to the Senators and telling the Senate to go to hell and raise funds if we really care and see the need to function. Also, it was brought to the notice of the senate that despite the warning that an illegal meeting called by the executive to totally disable the Senate was held on the 19th of July 2014, at the National Secretariat Akure, where the Executives with some unidentified paid ‘street boys’ and the Deputy Senate President purportedly impeached the Senate President. Which was a clear contradiction of the provisions of the constitution. (D) MOTIONS AND REACTIONS. That the named executive members and some Senators involved in the unconstitutional acts be suspended indefinitely and a committee of enquiry be set-up to investigate the allegations. ADOPTIONS 1. During voting, 25 senators voted for indefinate suspension while 1 voted against. The Senate consequently agreed to suspend the named executive members indefinately pending the report of the committee of enquiry. 2. That the Senators who after been warned by the Senate President as to the illegality and unconstitutionality of the meeting held by the executive, still went ahead without regards to attend the said illegal meeting, are also suspended until they are remorseful enough to put forward an apology letter stating reasons why they should be admitted back to the Senate, for clarity the suspended executive members are: i) Awodola Afolayan President ii) Abdul-Azeez Oladotun Secretary iii) Olaleye Olawale Financial Secretary and iv) Alademehin Busuyi Deputy Senate President COMMITTEES For efficient running of the Senate, the following Committees were inaugurated. 1.
