Job Posting (In-House and Out-of-House) Date Posted: July 1, 2013 DEPARTMENT: Early Childhood PROGRAM AREA: Universal Pre-K JOB TITLE: Master Teacher II CLASSIFICATION: Academic/Part-Time/Non-Exempt POSITION GRADE: Grade 6 SALARY: $12.86 per hour JOB HOURS: 20 hrs/week-AM session JOB LOCATION: CAPC Universal Pre-K classroom in the Watertown City School District (Starbuck) JOB SUMMARY: The Master Teacher is responsible for teaching and maintaining a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate pre-school classroom with the assistance of the teacher assistant and teacher aide. The Master Teacher is accountable for preparing and the implementation of lesson plans for classroom activities, as well as all other duties necessary to provide a quality UPK Program for 18 preschool children. The Master Teacher will report to the Universal Pre-K Coordinator. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and NYS Early Childhood Education (B-2) or Special Education (B-2) certification required. CERTIFICATION/EXPERIENCE: Initial or permanent Teacher Certificate QUALIFICATION ALTERNATIVE: None SKILLS: Working knowledge of child development, strong communication, organizational and time management skills. The ability to work with young children, maintain confidentiality of program and agency related information; maintain accurate detailed records, serve as an advocate for children and families; work as a team or independently; cooperate with all staff to provide quality programming for Pre-K children and families; and the ability to be non-judgmental in working with families. OTHER: Must be able to pass physical examination and TB test. Preference is given to qualified in-house candidates. Must have medical insurance or will be required to utilize Agency Fringe Benefit for health insurance coverage. Must be able to provide independent transportation to perform job responsibilities. All employment is conditional pending the receipt of background checks and fingerprint clearance at time of hire; and employees will be required to sign an affidavit annually which states that they have not been indicated with a child abuse or neglect case within the past year. CAPC is a Substance-Free Workplace. Employees are subject to random, post accident and reasonable suspicion drug testing.
