COMMUNITY ACTION PLANNING COUNCIL Position Posting (In-House & Out-of-House) Date Posted: 9-11-14 DEPARTMENT: Early Childhood PROGRAM AREA: Universal Pre-K Program JOB TITLE: Master Teacher II CLASSIFICATION: Academic/Full-Time/Non-Exempt POSITION GRADE: 6 SALARY: $13.03 JOB HOURS: 37.5 hours per week - AM and PM sessions with occasional evening and week-end hours required. JOB LOCATION: CAPC Universal Pre-K classroom at Indian River School (Evans Mills, NY) JOB SUMMARY: The Master Teacher II is responsible for teaching and maintaining a safe, healthy, and developmentally appropriate pre-school classroom with the support of the teacher assistant and aide. The Master Teacher II is accountable for preparing and implementing lesson plans for classroom activities, as well as all other duties necessary to provide a quality UPK Program for 18 preschool children for AM and PM sessions. EDUCATION: Bachelor Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field and NYS Early Childhood Education or Special Education B-2 certification required. CERTIFICATION: Initial or permanent NYS teacher certification in B-2 required. EXPERIENCE: Experience in early childhood preferred. SKILLS: Working knowledge of child development, strong communication, organizational and time management skills. The ability to work with young children, maintain confidentiality of program and agency related information; maintain accurate detailed records, serve as an advocate for children and families; work as a team or independently; cooperate with all staff to provide quality programming for Pre-K children and families; and the ability to be non-judgmental in working with families. OTHER: Employees are required to provide proof from physician verifying that they are physically fit to work within a day care center. Preference is given to qualified in-house candidates. Must have medical insurance or will be required to utilize agency fringe benefit for health insurance coverage. Must be able to provide independent transportation to perform job responsibilities. All employment is conditional pending the receipt of background checks and fingerprint clearance at time of hire; and employees will be required to sign an affidavit annually which states that they have not been indicated in a child abuse or neglect case within the past year.
