CONFLICT & COURAGE Under Satans Power Matt 16:21-25 It was to Peter a bitter lesson and one he learned but slowly, that the path of Christ on earth lay through agony and humiliation. The disciple shrank from fellowship with his Lord in suffering. But in the heat of the furnance fire he was to learn its blessings. Long afterward when his active form was bowed with the burden of years and labors, he wrote, Beloved think it not strange concerning the fiey trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: but rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christs sufferings, that, when His glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy(1Peter 4:12,13) Ellen White Matt 16:21-25 21 From that time Jesus Christ began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day. 22 And Peter took Him aside and began to rebuke Him, saying, God forbid {it,} Lord! This shall never happen to You. 23 But He turned and said to Peter, Get behind Me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to Me; for you are not setting your mind on Gods interests, but mans. 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone wishes to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me 25 For whoever wishes to save his life shall lose it; but whoever loses his life for My sake shall find it.
