CONFUSION IN THE NORTH! STRANGE BUT TRUE! My brother Daniel, a graduate of micro biology at 22 went to serve (NYSC ) in Hadieja Jigawa state, here are some of the revelations of the system of education! and a tip about the town! note- A government secondary school in Hadeija Jigawa state! 1. they dont sing national anthem 2. the school is divided into two- Arabic section and secular section. 3. where we have three classes for Arabic,we have only one for secular. 4.the girls even in secular are not allow to offer biology as a subject. 5. the school dont offer literature as a subject. 6. the secular girls are only allowed do animal husbandry or agriculture as a subject while the boys offer biology. 7. teachers communicate with Hausa, even English teacher. 7. physics, chemistry are not allowed, 8. a female teacher can not teach male students. 9. but a male teacher can teach female students. 10. male teachers hitherto flog the female students mercilessly when they commit an offence. 11.the girls put on lipstick(mostly red) and make up to class 12. there is separate staff room for males and female teachers. 13. during assembly, the students seats on the ground, some use mats. 13. in the town, girls most times men take their wives to hospital only at night. 14. women dont sell or trade in their markets except non indegenes. 15. yet young girls go round the town hawking and getting married off by12 to 14 years. 16. hardly you see a man and a woman walking, even side by side!. 17. a non indecent lady walking alone will be molested by young boys,by touching her parts! 18. solar powered street lights everywhere, yet no light in their homes! 19.when a male and female couples are walking, the street boys throw stones at them ! 20. when a teacher is talking to a student, the student usually squat. the question here remains! Are these conventions put in place to protect the female gender? to regulate change or to stall development? what is the hope of the girls that want to study law?where lies the hope of those young boys and girls who want to be doctors? accountants etc? do all this transmit to social discipline or religious doctrination? they went to school yet receives no education!
