We are so proud of you!! > Bradenton, FL – Dr. Mary Koshy, Radiation Oncologist at Manatee Cancer Center has received the Prestigious TOP DOC award for the 2nd consecutive year!! She is compassionate, kind, soft spoken and committed says her patients. Her staff agrees! She listens to each and every patient, gives them her undivided attention and is extremely considerate to both her patients and her staff, said Kim Parrado, office manager for both facilities. Dr. Koshy has been practicing in Manatee County now for 3 years and has helped to pioneer the use of innovative techniques in radiation therapy including image guided radiation and cranial and body stereotactic radiosurgery. In addition, for patients with particular kinds of cancer, Dr. Koshy and her team have been able to offer the opportunity to enroll in national cooperative group research trials “which we are very excited about.” Her background in academic medicine has inspired her to offer the latest cutting edge treatments while delivering patient centered compassionate oncologic care . We are so fortunate to have Dr. Mary Koshy in Manatee and Bradenton! Mary Koshy was brought up in Sarasota, Florida and received her undergraduate training at Cornell University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. She received her medical school training at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville, Florida. She then went on to do her Internship in Internal Medicine at Emory University in Atlanta, GA and stayed on to complete her residency in Radiation Oncology where she served as Chief Resident in her final year. She stayed on at Emory for the following year on faculty as a Clinical Instructor and then served as Assistant Professor in Radiation Oncology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston for another 2 years before returning to Florida. Dr. Koshy is a member of numerous organizations, including the American Society for Therapeutic Radiology and Oncology, the American College of Radiology and The American Society of Clinical Oncology. She is a member of the Manatee County Medical Society and the Manatee American Cancer Society Board of Directors. She has authored several papers on IMRT, pediatric tumors, gastrointestinal tumors and PET-CT imaging. She has been recipient of the ARS Young Oncologist Travel Award, RSNA Roentgen Research Award and the AAWR National Resident Award. She maintains a strong interest in clinical research, and has a special interest in IntensityModulated Radiotherapy, PET-CT and gastrointestinal oncology. Dr. Koshy treats patients at both Manatee Cancer Centers in Bradenton. One off Manatee Ave, by Manatee Memorial Hospital and the other on 21st Ave West across from Blake Hospital.
