CONGRATULATIONS TO GRAHAM RICKARD FOR COMPLETING THE DUBLIN MARATHON IN AID OF NEWQUAY AFC YOUTH. 6 MONTHS OF HARD WORK WAS WORTH IT! 9th May One six something mile run...ow One cold bath Brrrrr Yes this training is going well. 1st Sept Forgot what 18 miles felt like!! I will remember what they are like tomorrow as well. As usual l am in my COLD bath. Oh the joys of marathon training. The wall showed up tonite, but with lots of support got through it. Ta. Why is it when you push yourself to the limit you ache in places you never felt before! All lve got to do now is...get out of this bath!! 14th Sept Yes another delightful early morning jog. Up at 5am and ran from Bodmin to Padstow and back to Wadebridge. 18 miles apparently it felt a lot more seriously. Back in the van and back home..the next challenge was getting out of the van. OMG was l stiff - well yes l was. Usual routine cold bath followed by hot shower followed by just struggling through the rest of the day. 21st Sept Today was the toughest training day so far. Ive been out early morning and late at nite and in bad weather. But today was a 22mile day. The longest run of our marathon training. And it was tough. This weekend l announced that l am running for Newquay AFC Youth to raise money for our fantastic local youth football club. We will have light runs this week then another 22mile run next weekend. The count down is on. 5 weeks to go all l can say is..... roll on 6 weeks!!! Lastly thanks to everyone for their great support and and kindness 29th Sept OMG... Just got back from a tough tough run. Boy Oh boy Im sore. Everywhere!! 22 miles tonite whos stupid idea was this anyway... Oh yea mine. Hey ho The good news is from here on in Im tapering my distance down over the next four weeks. Thanks for everyone offering support.I need something to lean on right now. I was wondering why do your arms ache when you run- l wasnt crawling for that long!!! Much.... 7th Oct What a storm on Sunday nite. There were loads of trees down, rubbish everywhere what a mess. How do l know? Yesterday morning the alarm went off as set at 5:30am. I almost forgot that time of day existed! At 6:03am l left the comfort of home and ventured out. It was pitch black. Blowing a Hooley. Raining and felt blooming cold. I could very easily of gone back to bed. But.... the blog continues. I had a good determined run doing 18 miles non stop no breaks and felt good. Amazingly on the second lap all the trees and bushes and rubbish etc that l had to dodge an hour or so before had all magically been removed thanks to either the fairies or local council workers ( maybe a coalition) you think of all sorts when your brain is concentrating on putting the next step in place. Anyway thanks to them and well done. Sunrise was pleasant coming through the rain, with some bird song breaking the silence of my thud of my trainers pounding the streets. Its strange what you notice. I did my two Pentire laps then out to St Column Minor to complete my 18 miles. I love this tapering its great. Finally one good one bad. One good l did my 18 in 3:16. One bad l forgot my vasaline. Thanks everyone for your support. 14th Oct I went for my run tonite. I was fired up for it. I only did ten miles but l am tapering down now. I managed a great pace and my time tonite was 1hour 33minutes. I really enjoyed it and l cannot wait for Dublin. I feel ready for it which is great. This week will see two more smaller runs maybe seven or eight miles without pace. Then next week itll be the Final count down........... Thanks for all your encouragement. Now where did l put my passport?..... 21st Oct SIX days to go. ALL training completed. Passport ready. Really excited for Dublin. But To everyone that knows me..... London 2007. ....Yes its true. ...... So positive vibes pleeese Thanks to everyone for their support over the last few months. Please also remember lm running for Newquayafcyouth. Please look them up on FB download a form and help raise some funds for the children of our club. Thank you 27th Oct Yesterday l felt apprehension, excitement and nervous. Today is the day Ive been training for, for six months. Tomorrow it will be a memory......... A painful one. NOW ITS RUN, TIME TO GET THE SPONSOR MONEY IN.............
