CONTRIBUTOR TO NEW BOOK HEADING TO ABERDEEN Among the exhibitors at next month’s 3rd Aberdeen Art Fair, organised by GM Events in association with TAQA, are a couple from the East Neuk of Fife, one of whose work has been featured in a new book published earlier this month. The husband and wife team of Ian and Hilke MacIntyre are both painters and printmakers and, as Hilke, who was born in Germany and has lived in Scotland since 1995, explains, their work has received widespread recognition. “We both have a very distinctive style, placed somewhere in the area between figurative and abstract, with a strong interest in colour, often featuring Scottish landscape and nature. “We have a print studio at home with a large vintage offset press and Ian had created very impressive relief-prints on it that measure more than a metre wide. “Our work has been widely exhibited in many galleries throughout the United Kingdom while my linocuts have provided the illustrations for the East Neuk Music Festival every year since it launched in 2005. “I addition the recent book ‘The Printmaker’s Cat’, published by Mascot Media, also features my linocuts, along with work by other contemporary British artists.” Ian, who was born and raised in Perthshire, is looking forward to a return to the Granite City. “We used to visit the coastal area around the north east regularly with the caravan when the children were younger and we are delighted to be attending the Aberdeen Art Fair.” For more information on Ian and Hilke’s work, visit macintyre-art .
