CONVERSATION PT. 1 The scriptures tell us to keep watch over our tongue, and for good reason. Words have the power to create strife or peace; to uplift or destroy; to bless or to curse. The old adage claims words will never hurt me. That however, is untrue. Wrong words do hurt, but the right words spoken at the right time have the power to heal and comfort. Words count - so count your words! 5 Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great forest is set on fire by a small spark. JAMES 3:5 2 Do not be quick with your mouth, do not be hasty in your heart to utter anything before God. God is in heaven and you are on earth, so let your words be few. ECCLESIASTES 5:2 15 A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. PROVERBS 15:1 28 The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil. PROVERBS 15:28 6 Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone. COLOSSIANS 4:6 23 The hearts of the wise make their mouths prudent, and their lips promote instruction. 24 Gracious words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones. PROVERBS 16:23-24
