CONVERSIONS SO FAR! The following is an account by a story published in Ucan News. (You may read the story below.) Sometimes ... I really do not understand the ‘blame-chain’ process. Why someone needs to be blamed; either church or any institution? True conversion cannot happen at gun point,... it’s based on someone’s belief and trust and indeed through human service (...its my honest feeling). ...we live in a country where everyone has right to choose their own religion and I feel religion is more of belief and trust and each individual has his/her own right to trust on someone, either in the form of religion or in any form. I feel Caritas India as the social of wing of the Church in India converts thousands of like in the form of bringing life to human body, changing attitude towards poverty, making life more dignified and building peace. It’s not making people to adopt another religion, yes indeed if someone likes it, love it, could adopt . It is a personal decision and could never be forced. I just roughly calculated following figures and see how actually Church social wing works : • Caritas India works with non-Christian community: 1.98 million households • Caritas India’s no programme has indicator to convert XYZ number of people • Caritas India’s project partner staff ( mainly in central , north and east) about 70% of staff non-Catholics • No 100% catholic members based SHGs/Farmers clubs • No catholic collectives formed • Supports in emergencies without any caste creed and religion • We are able to reach to the most interior places of country. Then how ‘Conversion’ and blame games. I think we need to seriously educate common public and register a change in the mindset. I invite you to you think on it!
