COUNCIL OF EX-STUDENT LEADERS; A PRODUCT OF - TopicsExpress

COUNCIL OF EX-STUDENT LEADERS; A PRODUCT OF GRADUATE UNEMPLOYMENT IN KWARA OR LOW SELF ESTEEM? Is what we have in Nigeria and Kwara particularly today a student’s movement or students business? Because a student’s movement is expected to a formidable pressure group whose agitation should be real representation of her members’ interest, unlike a business that its going concern is profitability even if at the peril of the business environment. Sometimes, when I give critical analysis, I presume that businesses are even better-off our movement the way it is currently manipulated by some individuals of high parasitic tendencies because the business have relative probability of discharging corporate social responsibilities to the society which may be directly or indirectly enjoyed by the consumers. But as for students’ movement, total liability is the case of the Ebola that seem incurable and seriously affecting the echo of our solidarity voices. Before now, much have been said, yet the need to say more is fast growing and much will continue to out-pour in as much as the social criminals and aluta fraudsters fails to put a stop their nefarious act. It was mocking hearing and seeing the formation and operation of “KWARA STATE COUNCIL OF EX-STUDENT LEADERS”. Although, no article of NANS constitution being the supreme authority of students movement provided for such association but the association would have been applauded if the rationale behind its establishment is holistic. That will even convince Nigerian students that our supposed mentors have finally changed for good in Kwara but they are further convincing us that only death can take the cloth of a goat. I believe the reward for good is good and the best the association can do to induce membership of integrity based ex-student leaders is to ensure a better life for the few present members of the controversial organization by way of gainful employment and substantial empowerments in recognition of their roles as ex-student leaders and not as political apologists of the ruling government. Not dogmatic praise singers and deceivers of any government. Funny too well, I have seen an nerdy affirmation of the association that the Kwara state government have performed excellently in the area capital development, education and youths employments and empowerment. But it was a disappointment to realize that many of them are still jobless and had to jump from political offices for their advance beggarism with photographic invitation cards to un-existing programs for their living all in the name of joblessness or low self esteem? Yet, they claim youths are employed/empowered. Where do they keep their portion of employment/empowerment? Ex-student leaders of high repute, unquestionable character, good foresight and high self esteem who believe in their world changing ability are not found being corporate thugs, social criminals, fraudsters and non-directional political stooges who will only express their leadership and experience prowess by exploiting the students associations in their geographical domain or criminally force them to dirty things unbecoming of a student leader all in the name of personal interest. Would any reasonable person call someone who graduated as a B.Sc holder and retrogress for National Diploma in a polytechnic all to validate his studentship an exemplary student leader? Can you refer to ex-student leaders of decades or even below who still sit jobless to receive returns/percentage from serving executives a mentor? Will you describe someone who uses innocent student leaders ignorantly to peruse and frustrate government they claim to be supporting for their own selfish interest as a good ex-student leader? Just like tenants who prefer to burn a house to ashes if he can’t have the keys, they cant really be blamed because they know not the pain of building one. Although, as a Nigerian student, I am well informed that some of the canker worms characterized by these lackadaisical imbroglios are usually half baked breads and drop outs who were expelled in school not for their activism but atrocities and absenteeism during their days in school. Thus, have seen students business as perpetual alternatives. Yes, it may be smooth now, but wrong will not last forever, it shall become right someday. I salute the courage of few who despite odds have painstakingly protect their persons by avoiding social crimes and giving necessary support to students and not exploiting and manipulating them. Those who suffered academic setback for activism sake know within their minds and we equally know them as they distinct themselves from others. If secondary school alumni can raise N1,000,000,000 for their alma matter(GSS Ilorin), are you not ashamed of cunning stipend from where you are believed to have rendered service to humanity in your days as students? If you are not ashamed you are embarrassing us because the world is setting a record for us all. My dear senior cadres, I am not wishing you away, but indulging you to set it right as he world is full of opportunities than continue wasting your precious lives parading yourselves at old ages as students leaders and preventing the upcoming generations from shining to limelight of student movement. I challenge all ex-student leaders across political board to accelerate their self esteems and leave the student movement honourably and in loud ovation on graduation as an undergraduate. Let us proof our leadership worth by joining the challenging and changing mainstream politics and serve as motivator for upcoming comrades and not exploiters, lets in togetherness uphold Aluta and not “a-looter”.
