National: May, 2006 - The African American Pavilion exhibitor space at BookExpo America being held in Washington DC at the Washington D.C. Convention Center is SOLD OUT! According to Pavilion Co-Founder, Tony Rose, The response by the exhibitors and the book publishing industry to The African American Pavilion at BEA 2006 has been tremendous and powerful. Rose continued, The pavilion will be hosting some of the giants in the African American Publishing Industry such as: Third World Press; Africa World Press/Red Sea Press; Just Us Books; Strebor Books International; and Triple Crown Publishing. Our new exhibitors, Silver Maple Publications; K Harris Publishing, Inc.; African American Literature Book Club (AALBC); Who’s Who Publishing; and Writing for the Lord Ministries will have a chance to network and rub elbows with some of the greatest book publishers in the world, Haki Madhubuti, Kassahun Checole, W. Paul Coates, Wade Hudson, Zane, and Vickie Stringer. BookExpo America, one of the largest book trade exhibits in the world provides independent African American book publishers, self-publishers, authors, black imprints at major publishing houses, distributors, literary agents, publicists, librarians, and bookstore owners with exposure to more than 80,000 book buyers and booksellers from across the globe. This year, according to Rose, with over thirty-five exhibitors in the African American Pavilion, the largest AA Pavilion yet, and our Pavilion programs, we expect more than 10,000 BEA attendees to cross up and down the pavilion aisles. There will be great opportunities to learn, share educate, sell and network. The Tom Pope Show, heard on The PowerNomics Radio Network, will be interviewing authors and other publishing industry notables, May 10th, May 12th, May 16th, Live, and May 19th, in the African American Pavilion meeting room. The African American Pavilion meeting room is a great place for our exhibitors to relax and learn more about the publishing industry from a few of our industry greats. On Saturday, May 20th, 10:00-10:30 Madeleine Morel and Barbara Lowenstein of Lowenstein - Morel Associates, Literary Agents and Sha-Shana Crichton of Crichton and Associates Inc., Literacy Agency will present a seminar on How to find and work with an agent / Licensing Books and from 12:30-1:00pm Marcella Smith, Director of Small Press and Vendor Relations - Barnes & Noble will present a seminar on Tips for getting your books in Barnes & Noble. Sunday May 21st 10:am-12noon Karibu Books and Black Classics Press will host a symposium for the Pavilion exhibitors about the important role publishers play in bookstores business. In addition to the many licensing, sales, distribution and business opportunities the pavilion provides, the festivities will include music, food and refreshments. Karibu Books and Kensington Press will sponsor The African American Pavilion Welcoming Reception on May 19th from 3-5pm, Sunny Sana, Buyer, Karibu Books will MC. Reverend Dennis Dillon, CEM, The Brooklyn Christian Center, author, Affirm Your Purpose, will give the Benediction. Pat Schroeder, former Congresswoman and President/CEO of the Association of American Publishers (AAP) will give the pavilion opening remarks. Terrie Williams, best selling author and the founder of The Terrie Williams Agency, will give the welcoming receptions keynote address. W. Paul Coates, Founder and Director of Black Classic Press; William E.
