According to Pavilion Co-Founder, Tony Rose, The response by the exhibitors and the book publishing industry to The African American Pavilion at BEA 2006 has been tremendous and powerful. Rose continued, The pavilion will be hosting some of the giants in the African American Publishing Industry such as: Third World Press; Africa World Press/Red Sea Press; Just Us Books; Strebor Books International; and Triple Crown Publishing. Our new exhibitors, Silver Maple Publications; K Harris Publishing, Inc.; African American Literature Book Club (AALBC); Who’s Who Publishing; and Writing for the Lord Ministries will have a chance to network and rub elbows with some of the greatest book publishers in the world, Haki Madhubuti, Kassahun Checole, W. Paul Coates, Wade Hudson, Zane, and Vickie Stringer. BookExpo America, one of the largest book trade exhibits in the world provides independent African American book publishers, self-publishers, authors, black imprints at major publishing houses, distributors, literary agents, publicists, librarians, and bookstore owners with exposure to more than 80,000 book buyers and booksellers from across the globe. This year, according to Rose, with over thirty-five exhibitors in the African American Pavilion, the largest AA Pavilion yet, and our Pavilion programs, we expect more than 10,000 BEA attendees to cross up and down the pavilion aisles. There will be great opportunities to learn, share educate, sell and network. Sunday May 21st 10:am-12noon Karibu Books and Black Classics Press will host a symposium for the Pavilion exhibitors about the important role publishers play in bookstores business.
