COUNTRY: SOUTH AFRICA EMPLOYER: BRITISH PETROLEUM FUNCTION: Internal Communications Manager Req ID: 50167BR Job category: Retail Sub-category Retail Head Office Countries (State/Region) South Africa Location: Johannesburg Role synopsis: The post holder will be accountable for working with the BPSA Leadership to strengthen the Internal Communications IC structure to support the business agenda. Key accountabilities 1) Strategy: • To work closely with SA FVC senior leadership to create an integrated internal communications strategy for employees this business area • To oversee the effective customisation and targeting of messages to implement this strategy across the SA FVC taking into account diverse business, cultural and linguistic backgrounds and levels of seniority. 2) Stakeholder Management: • To advise and influence senior leaders on enhancing internal communications to engage and align staff with the SA FVCs strategic direction. Advise Heads of the Lubricants Business and Air BP to promote their business to the rest of the organisation • To stay closely connected to the Brand Manager, External and Corporate Communications Manager to ensure alignment between customer, external and employee communications 3) Organisation and resourcing: • To implement a fit-for-purpose internal communications organisation to meet the requirements of BPSA going forward. The postholder will implement a selection process (as required), aligned with new group-level IC governance standards and expectations (in terms of common operating processes and activity benchmarks), to simplify and focus BP’s internal communications organisation going forward. •. • To manage BPSA internal communications budget. • To involve and consult with the procurement team when the services of third party suppliers are being considered or sourced in order to capture efficiency savings 4) Channel management and messaging: • To create fit for purpose communications channels that, wherever appropriate, are integrated across the SPU and remove duplication where possible • To oversee the development of the consistent group-wide communications planning and measurement approach to gauge the effectiveness of BPSA’s communications, and manage the implementation of activities to ensure continuous improvement. 5)Other requirements: • To manage a limited amount of external communications (media relations and marketing) Essential Education •Relevant Degree, Essential experience and job requirements •4-6 years experience working as a Communications Manager •Ability to write articles from short interviews •Ability to summarise and write clear internal communications to an organisation Desirable criteria & qualifications •Managing Relationships and building partners •Communication skills (verbal and written) •Performance Bias •Business Awareness •Partnership & Teamwork •Wise Decisions •Innovation Relocation available: No Travel required: No Is this a part time position?: Yes About BP Our business is the exploration, production, refining, trading and distribution of energy.
