COURTESY VISIT TO NUJ. It was an exciting moment when acting executives of Association of Graduates Against Unemployment paid a courtesy visit to the Ogun State chapter of the Nigerian Union Of Journalist, at the Iwe Iroyin office at oke ilewo of Abeokuta in Ogun state. In attendance at the meeting were important personnels on the journalism industry such as NUJ chairperson, com wole sokunbi, his vice, com Kunle olaniyan, NUJ secetary com. Com Kunle Ibikunle and com Razaq Ayinla of Business day. The chairman, comrade Wole sokunbi coMmented the effort of the Association in coming together to set up a forum of this kind. He lamented on the decadence in the nation at large citing the issue of the over four month on going strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities. He implored ANGAU to stay committed and focused in the struggle. The chairman, on behalf of NUJ agreed to partner with the association and render support wherever needed in sending away all corrupt leaders. He further advised to be committed and dedicated as the result may not come soon as expected but through consistent hard work, the vision will be achieved. He however warned to tread carefully as there will be many stumbling blocks that would rise to hinder the success of the group. Com Kunle Ibikunle further advised that the association focused on the highlighted objectives of the group which are creating full employments to graduates, eradicating contract staffing, eradicating Job sales and creating an enabling environment for upcoming entrepreneurs to mention a few. Com Yinka Olagunju of ANGAU solicited NUJs help in getting trustees, people of noble and credible personalities among the six geopolitical zones. Com Razaq Ayinla of Business day Newspaper. Further inquired how the association plan to operate per adventure it was being funded. Ehix Abuya and Kenny Micheal Oni countered that argument with this response our constitution supersedes the Nigerian constitution, the greatest challenge facing the Nigerian economy is too much focus on crude oil. The nation has neglected Agriculture and Industrialisation which is fundamental to any developing nation. Another challenge is lack of monitoring and maintenance, if we are empowered, we select professionals among us and we work as a team, and it will be well monitored for effective result. The secretary to the NUJ lauded the effort of the association for this initiative and welcomed any assistance whenever need be.
