(CPV) – The Vietnam national flag carrier Vietnam Airlines (VNA) has announced its plan to increase services during the 2015 Lunar New Year festival, the biggest holiday of the year. Some of 1,200 flights will be operated between January 28 and March 18, 2015 (as of December 9 to January 28 of the lunar month) to meet the increasing passenger demand during the peak period, thus bringing the total flights up to 18,900, a 12% increase compared to the normal schedule. Accordingly, the Hanoi – Ho Chi Minh city route to see additional 260 flights (using A321, A330 and B777 aircrafts), while 340 flights will be added to the Da Nang – Ho Chi Minh city by A321 aircraft. Photo for illustration It has already prepared for additional flights on 9 routes from Ho Chi Minh city to Vinh/Hai Phong/Pleiku/Buon Ma Thuot/Quy Nhơn/Cam Ranh/Hue/Thanh Hoa/Phu Quoc; and from Ha Noi to Cam Ranh/Da Nang/Phu Quoc/Vinh. On international routes, the carrier is expected to provide 36 additional aviation services from/to Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung (Taiwan, China), Bangkok (Thailand), Singapore, and Hong Kong. Passengers are recommended to book and purchase their tickets as soon as they can, thus avoiding ticket’s shortage during this time. Later on, VNA will continue adjust its plan based on certain situations of airplane, pilot and technical staff as well.
