CRAIGSLIST RANT FROM MAN WHO CLAIMS HE WAS BLOCKED BY MCNTV NEWS BUT HE WASNT BLOCKED September 18, 2014 Recently a long time friend sent me a link to a Craigslist posting. As I opened it and read my first reaction was to react. Write him back with anger and tell him to start helping me pay for everything and he can get mad at what I do. But I stopped and read it again, and again, and again. I started to understand that obviously this man felt so passionate about what we do or supposedly did to him to write that he was so compelled to share his feelings and I one for thank you him for it. And so I wrote him and told him so. I also felt that his rant should be shared so that others who agree may have the opportunity to share their issues with us so that we can work hard on correcting them. He has agreed and you will find it below. If you have a direct question for myself, Diana, or Misty feel free to post it in the comments section, too, and if we can we will answer it. A couple of quick notes. Many of you who have been here for awhile know that I have a day job that many times takes me to LA or out of state. It has been hard to build MCNTV but I try because I do think it is very important. Recently three of the most amazing human beings stepped up to help without asking for a dime. Complete volunteers who are just as passionate about our county as I am. Misty Cole-Valenzuela and Diana Perez as well as Josh Rivera. Yes, sometimes we do make mistakes and we try as quickly as possible to correct them. And now comes time for you to help us understand what we are doing wrong and how we can get better. This is not a forum to bash the author but a chance for all of you to share with us how we can improve. I do ask that you try to convey your message a little more eloquently than the author tough and please try to make it personal by attacking me personally. I am just a husband, father and grand father trying to do what I can to bring hopefully some paid jobs soon to Merced in my spare time. Also, all news reporting agencies listen to scanner feeds including the Sunstar. Thats how they get their live breaking news stories. If you have a message of support and thanks we so very much appreciate them but this is also not the forum for that. This is a post for those that wish to share their frustration with my horrible spelling and or grammar and any other issues that are of concern and need to be addressed. As posted in Craigslist rants and ravs - 09/17/2014 Merced County News Television censors its Facebook commenters - A Craigslist Posting found in Rants and Ravs First off, its just a Facebook page run by a dude with a police scanner who is pretty good at cutting & pasting from legitimate news sources or press releases. There is no television involved. Dude has a few old videos on YouTube & he runs his police scanner through YouTube but thats not television. Hes not even smart enough to get that YouTube is for video. Thats why theres a screen, dude. Police scanners are broadcast over the internet &, if you were bright enough to use Google, you could have your scanner up on Broadcastify so that people could hear it through apps on their smartphones. Now, a little background into why Im on Craigslist blasting this guy. I have made many comments on their Facebook page. Most of them have been to correct the misinformation that hes posted from listening to his police scanner. Some have been in support of his hatred for Larry Morse, who I dont hate but I dont like him at all either. Matthew Gonzales runs MCNTV & last week he posted an editorial insisting that Morse resign as District Attorney. Shortly after that, Matthew posted a petition asking Facebook followers to sign it & pass it on through their network. The first comment was from a guy who asked something like, Doesnt anybody proofread these things? & stating that he wouldnt support a poorly written petition. I read the petition & I agreed in a reply to that gentlemans comment. My comment has been deleted by Matthew but what I said was that MCNTV is not a legitimate news source & that, while I liked the direction Matthew was trying to go, I wouldnt support the petition. I suggested that he have a professional rewrite it. There was no name calling nor cursing in my comment. I received notifications of some 7 or 8 people, that I dont even know, clicking Like for that comment. Besides having deleted my comment, & not the original to which I replied, Matthew has also blocked me from being able to comment on the MCNTV page. This non-profit (paperwork still in process) news organization is censoring their social network comments. The freaking Merced Sun-Star hasnt even blocked me & I rip on them savagely when compared to my comment about the poorly written petition. So, Im pissed. Thats bullshit. Why would a fake media outlet, i.e. MCNTV, which touts itself as broadcasting news that other local news sources refuses to report, censor anything?! Thats against the Mission Statement that they post on their own Facebook page! Well, I did a little poking around at MCNTV & found that its more of a joke than I suspected. Matthew Gonzales is listed as the Founder &, get this, Visionary of MCNTV. Their own web page says he has previously reported under the name, Matt Matthews. Dude sees himself as a visionary but couldnt muster up the imagination for a better stage name than Matt freakin Matthews?! He looks Latino as can be so, Matthews doesnt fit at all but, shit dude, you didnt even try. Speaking of not trying, youll find that he doesnt do that in his reporting either. Double Matt listens to his scanner & tries to get as much info out of it as possible to post. Great initiative but he doesnt know what hes hearing. He doesnt know police radio codes nor jargon. He doesnt know the layout of the city well enough to consistently get the locations he posts correct. Hell mishear a street name, call it something else & worry everybody in the wrong neighborhood. Which leads me to why reporting directly from a police scanner is stupid. All you do is worry people with no facts behind what is really happening. While I know dispatchers do their very best to properly classify each call, it can be something different when the officer arrives. Another thing is that they just tell the cop where to go & the details of the information they took over the phone. Once the cop arrives, hes not giving dispatch a play-by-play of what has or is happening. There may be some brief radio traffic, which Mr. Matthews doesnt understand, & finally a case classification but this dude doesnt know what theyre saying. Thats why you get a bold headline of the initial radio traffic to the officer but, after every Facebook follower who lives within a mile has become worried their neighborhood has gone to shit, he never responds to the requests for updates. Dude doesnt know what happened because he doesnt know how to listen to cop talk nor does he even understand the lingo. The few times Ive checked into his live, YouTube feed, the cops have already cleared the call (that means they left, Matt) when people are still asking for updates in the comments. As far as MCNTV reporting, if its grammatically correct, Im absolutely positive he copied & pasted it into a comment from a press release or from the Sun-Star. Hell change up the MSS content enough to not be blatant plagiarization but he is not a good writer at all. Hes not even an okay writer & I certainly hope that he doesnt proofread because that would show him to be even dumber. Thats what I have to say about MCNTV, for now. Its bullshit that he has blocked/censored me & anybody else. If he disagreed with what I had to say, he, as an intelligent visionary, should have shown me the light as to the legitimacy of his great, television, news source. Unfortunately, Matt Matthews is just a clown with a scanner & a Facebook page. This is not a call for MCNTV followers to unsubscribe. If you are a Merced resident who has not already seen the page, go ahead & take a look. Subscribe if you want. But spend some time reading his shit & then try to tell me Im wrong.
