CRASH CLAIMS LIFE OF DEAN TOWNSEND MYTON––Slippery road conditions early Thursday was believed to be the cause of a crash on Parriette Road near Highway 40 west of Myton that claimed the life of a Roosevelt man. Both KSL and the Salt Lake Tribune have identified the driver as Dean Townsend, 49, of Roosevelt. According to both news outlets, the crash was reported at about 6:55 a.m., when a double-tanker rig lost traction while descending a hill and one of the trailers jackknifed and crossed into the oncoming lane, striking a pickup truck driven by Townsend. KSL reported that Townsend was pinned in the pickup and died due to traumatic injuries. The driver of the tanker truck was identified as Darrel Wiser, 49, of Nibley in Cache County. He was issued a citation for failure to operate in a single lane, according to KSL.
