CREATION AND THE FLOOD: (My favorite area of study) I firmly believe, based on the authority of scripture and empirical science, that God created the earth, universe and all living things in a supernatural event of 6-24hr days. The earths environment described in this creation account in Genesis suggests a worldwide mild and tropical condition, where perhaps a thin water vapor canopy encircled the entire globe and resulted in uniform global temperatures static.icr.org/i/pdf/technical/Temperature-Profiles-for-an-Optimized-Water-Vapor-Canopy.pdf. Many fossil remains today include those of tropical fauna and Wooley Mammoth, the dinosaur fossils of Antarctica and other land and sea creatures ~ all found today in and around those areas of thick polar ice. According to the straightforward reading of Genesis, I believe there was an historical 13 month long catastrophic worldwide Flood only a few thousand years ago, that destroyed this original creation due ultimately to mans fallen sinful nature. According to the vast geological evidence seen worldwide, this event rapidly deposited trapped animal and plant life by burying and preserving them as fossils in their original & individual ecological dwelling zones.icr.org/article/chinese-dinosaurs-were-fossilized-by/ & icr.org/article/6603/ Instead of evolutions flawed uniformitarian scenario, the biblical Flood concept is used by creation scientists today and it essentially paints a more consistent, solid and reliable paleontological picture as they use it for fossil indexing of various creatures actually buried in those layers. As the waters rapidly rose and eventually covered the highest mountains, those less mobile creatures and animals were buried in their basic dwelling environment. However, highly mobile mankind escaped burial to be marooned at the highest levels and to eventually die and decompose, with essentially very little or no fossil remains. Yet, we find fossils of sea creatures and shells embedded in the mountainous areas of today. From around the world, we have ancient oral stories and cave drawings of many indigenous people - regarding a Great Flood and the salvation of a single family group aboard an ark or boat. vimeopro/icr/thats-a-fact][icr.org/article/why-does-nearly-every-culture-have-tradition-globa/ As mentioned, most of earths terrain along the outer surface can be best explained by this catastrophic global Flood and its total encompassing mechanism for tremendous geological destruction. Sedimentary layering is seen exclusively in nearly every visible feature as on cliffs and mountain sides, right up to and including those highest mountain tops. Yet, there are gaps in the geologic colume according to the uniformatarian long age explanation of the sediments. icr.org/article/6591/ Plate tectonics requires this massive mechanism for huge earth moving capabilities, which can only come from hydrological action. Rapid north and south pole reversals during the worse of the Floods upheaval, plus underwater landslides worldwide along with violent continuous volcanism, all contributed to this continental size destruction. As the waters finally abated, canyons were suddenly carved through the water saturated ground cover, which was not yet completely solidified. See story in links; icr.org/article/6539/ and icr.org/article/6540/ No other slow moving uniformitarian evolutionary hypothesis can come close to explaining the resultant forces responsible for the geological features we see today. Neither a single meteor nor comet of the past can affect the entire earth as the narrative in Genesis clearly suggests. This mountain building activity during and after the Flood also included great shifting and folding of earths crust as in many places show a bending of these many stacked sedimentary layers, suggesting it was still wet and soft at the time they formed. This is further evidence of a massive hydrological catastrophe that cannot be explained by slow and gradual action over millions of years. In many cases, we also see evidence of huge mountain over-thrusts, such as seen in the Ute Pass deformations of the Colorado Rocky mountains (icr.org/article/7723/) and the Hart Mountain region of N/W Wyoming. This is an example of older rock lower layers being forced up and sliding over the top of supposed younger rock. This affect can only best be scientifically explained by the power of a global Flood in earth’s recent past. There are many examples of this reversal of sedimentary layers that cannot be explained by uniformitarian geology, plus many ancient trees of only a few hundred years old, standing in growth position but poking through several so-called “millions of years” of layered sediment. Finally, as the post Flood era formed the ancient Hopi Lake in the low lands to the east, the Grand Canyon is a perfect example of this huge lakes tremendous pressure suddenly breaching through the soft earthen dam to the west called the Kaibab Upwarp. This uplifted mound feature was essentially caused by the post Floods hydrological saturation, swelling up the land mass into what is now the dry, solid, tall granite walls and Colorado River of today. As the Grand Canyon now displays hundreds of (inches to several feet thick each) sedimentary layers today, there is actually very little to no erosion indicated and strongly suggesting it was laid down rapidly over a short period of time. If each layer was truly millions of years old, there should indicate this erosion at each layer but simply none exists! All fossils found have been buried and are best explained today by this recent Noachian Flood story of the Bible. icr.org/article/6631/ Additionally, the Ark of the Bible was not a small vessel by any means, having 3 floors and totaling in size: 75 wide, 45 high and 450 long. Touted as being the most stable configuration for very high and continuous wave actions, this mathematical ratio of width, height and length was subsequently considered and used for construction of ocean going vessels since that time and even used today. Further more, best calculations today also suggests fewer total animal kinds may have existed then, where they possessed all the necessary DNA variations within their gene pool and thus accounting for the greater number of species that we have today.icr.org/article/speciation-animals-ark/ and icr.org/article/6542/ This further supports the evidence that the Ark in fact had more than enough room necessary for the task at hand. In Genesis chapters 6-8, this single family remnant of mankind was preserved aboard the Ark from a certain watery death through a righteous God-fearing man called Noah and his family. Along with them were a male and female each of all the original air breathing flying and land animal kinds, plus a food supply for a year. God then commanded mankind to re-populate and subdue the earth again after the waters abated, promising never again to bring those flood waters. (to be continued) Fern Yvette
