CREATIVITY & INNOVATION Sometimes the Problem Becomes the Solution ************************************************* It is an inevitable fact that everyone in this world have problems in one way or the other. Also, we are all so keen to have solutions to our problems. However, there are some of those unfortunate souls who do absolutely nothing to solve their problems. The latter category label problems as curses and expect the Omnipotent God to act on their behalf. If this is the case, I personally regard this as abusing Gods unlimited and unconditional love. To those courageous minds who put their shoulders against the wheel of the Jaggernaut of life, and move it forward no matter how insignificant the stride may seem, Ive a word of appreciation for them. They must never give up in life. Sooner or later, theyll reap the rewards of their constant sweating, persistence, perseverence and patience. The path that leads to a solution indeed needs (a great deal of) hope, faith and optimism. Of course, when were engaged in problem-solving, we need to employ out-of-the-box thinking in our approach. Sometimes we have got to go against conventional thinking patterns. In some instances, we may even neglect our valued common sense and logic and totally rely on our intuition and gut. To prove my claim, lets look into the example below: Suppose you want to start a business which requires substantial start-up capital. To your regret, you lack funding. As a matter of fact, you then go to the bank to borrow the required capital. When youre right there, with your sound business plan, you discover that the bank manager denies you the loan that you so much want. S/he says you need a collateral, a 3-months bank statement reflecting the flow of cash in your transaction, and emphasizes you need to be an employee earning so much remuneration. Moreover, s/he says you need to pay an upfront deposit of 20% in order to have access to that principal! This is very tragic, but not the end of the road. You may have wanted to start a business because youre unemployed and destitute but youve nice sustainable business concept. The banks prerequisites now shows to be merciless to you. Then, what about going to the drawing board, redefine the problem, and finally go the prosperous funder? Now, the lateral thinker would change the word loan into investment capital. She would speak of selling shares to investors who so passionately want to acquire them as opposed to a loan which has too many restrictions. The investors will probably approach him/her as opposed to him/her approaching money-lenders. And his/her business will be a success. This example above proves beyond reasonable doubt that creativity and innovation is of crucial importance in an any realm of human endeaver if we really serious about success.
