CRESTWOOD MIDDLE SCHOOL HOSTS ANNUAL SOLO AND ENSEMBLE FESTIVAL On Saturday, April 12th The Crestwood Middle School Music Department hosted its annual Solo and Ensemble festival. Crestwood Middle School band students performed solos and small ensembles for a judge, and each performance received a rating. The event was a huge success, with 33 scores of 1: Superior, 17 ratings of 2: Excellent, and 3 ratings of 3: Good. Judges for the event were: Denise Soulsby from Field, Brandon Duvall and Dustin Harris from Cuyahoga Falls and Darren LeBeau from Revere. Accompanists were Mrs.Virginia Goodell, Mrs. Judith Guegold and Mrs. Becky Oliphant. The following 8th grade band soloists received a 1 rating on their performance: Emma Blake (trombone), Hannah Boyer (oboe), Zoe Catcott (bassoon), Katie Fosnight (piano), Katie Fosnight (trombone), Frank Fugman (euphonium), Caleb Gula (alto saxophone), Cailin Harris (clarinet), Taylor Lough (tuba), Ephraim Oliphant (trombone) & Lauren Pallotto (clarinet). The following 8th grade band ensembles received a 1 rating on their performance: -Woodwind Quintet (Elizabeth Adkins, Hannah Boyer, Zoe Catcott, Lauren Pallotto & Stefanie Walker) -Brass Quintet (Alison Darrow, Lauren Lerchbacher, Taylor Lough, Sara Miller & Austin Shaffer)-Trombone Quartet (Emma Blake, Katie Fosnight, Ephraim Oliphant & Austin Shaffer) -Low Brass Quartet (Olivia Fowler, Frank Fugman, Taylor Lough & Jessica Roman) -Percussion Ensemble (Sophie Cobb, Gavin Hysing & Mitch McGreal) The following 8th grade band soloists received a 2 rating on their performance: Elizabeth Adkins (flute), Megan Buchert (flute), Sophie Cobb (percussion) & Jacquelyn Travis (flute). The following 8th grade band ensembles received a 2 rating on their performance: -Clarinet Quartet (Mary Bowers, Cailin Harris, Lauren Pallotto & Mackenzie Tayerle) -Flute Trio (Elizabeth Adkins, Megan Buchert & Jacquelyn Travis) -Horn Trio (Jameson Huebner, Lauren Lerchbacher & Stefanie Walker) The following 8th grade band ensemble received a 3 rating on their performance: Saxophone trio (Lillian Bissell, Caleb Gula & Brent Monroe), The following 7th grade band soloists received a 1 rating on their performance: Maddie Baker (bassoon), Angel Bowles (trumpet), Stephen Glova (percussion), Jackson Gutowski (euphonium), Sandy Hahn (French horn), Chad Ramsell (tuba), Addy Schweickert (piano), Sammy Smith (alto saxophone), Breanna Teece (trumpet), Lily Turner (oboe), Brett Ward (euphonium), and Amelia Wysong (clarinet). The following 7th grade band ensembles received a 1 rating on their performance: -Woodwind Quintet (Maddie Baker, Ashleigh Fowler, Mira Soukenik, Lily Turner & Kaeli Wilson) -Trumpet Quartet (Jason Green, Kathleen Hawley, Haley Pero-Favazzo & Breanna Teece) -Brass Quintet (Angel Bowles, Jackson Gutowski, Sandy Hahn, Chad Ramsell & Breanna Teece) -Low Brass Trio (Jackson Gutowski, Chad Ramsell & Brett Ward) -Percussion Ensemble (Steve Duber, Stephen Glova, Alex Kramer, Willow McDougald, A’Lisa Prater & Lexi Sawastuk) The following 7th grade band soloists received a 2 rating on their performance: Jason Green (trumpet), Josh Guegold (trombone), Liz Hilverding (bassoon), Ally McSwain (trombone), Kate-Lynn Pawlak (tuba), Kellie Ristau (piano), Alexis Tosi (alto saxophone), and Kaeli Wilson (French horn). The following 7th grade band ensembles received a 2 rating on their performance: -Clarinet Quartet (Meghan Griffin, Matt Roth, Kayla Satterfield & Amelia Wysong) -Horn Quartet (Sandy Hahn, Justine Lesniewski, Kellie Ristau & Kaeli Wilson) The following 7th grade band ensembles received a 3 rating on their performance: -Mixed low trio (Maddie Baker, Elizabeth Hilverding, Kate-Lynn Pawlak) -Saxophone Quartet (Corissa Bretti, Addy Schweickert, Sammy Smith & Alexis Tosi) Congratulations to all the student performers and a special thanks to the judges, accompanists, the band directors and all the volunteers that made this year’s event a huge success!
