CRIMEA and UKRAINE desire for self determination as a sovereigh nations ... events reminds me of my grief for the HUNGARIANS IN 1956 (iwas eleven ) and theyh expected our help to stay free and sovereign, and we didnt come. Eisenhower knew the people were war weary from WWii and Korea... and there wasnt anything could be done. At the same time many patriotic usaid workers had been promoting and helping the resistance, revolution. But our military wast there. The GOOD GUYS of the world, who are supposed to come to the rescue, defending human rights etc. deja vu all over again. Here come the Russians to re=establish some empire approximating the old soviet block. They feel as entitled as Israelis feel. but again the game of thrones is played for keeps, you win or you die. Winner writes the history and gives inteviews . International law is a recent and rather week intellectual game you can play, but it has no army no air force, no navy. the question of standing arises. where is the grand coalitions of free democratic people willing to put forth their miitary might to stop the Russians? well just have cope with our grief.... again ....bullies win another one.
