CRYSTAL CLEAR FOOTAGE - We have released CCTV footage of a man in a red cap wanted for questioning after another man was stabbed eight times outside Medway Tower block on Cromwell Street in Nechells at 8am on Saturday 23 August. The man went to the tower block with a friend, shown in the footage, whom officers would also like to speak to as a witness only. The 31-year-old victim suffered eight stab wounds in the confrontation and spent several days in hospital. Fortunately he is continuing to make a full recovery, but detectives urgently need to trace the man responsible. The man had attended a gathering in a flat with a friend although he had not been invited and was not known to any of the people there. After words were exchanged with the victim, they went outside and got into a fight where the unknown man produced a knife. We urgently need anyone who knows the man or saw him on that Bank Holiday weekend to contact detectives. We would also like to appeal to the man with him to come forward to help us with our enquiries. Officers arrived at the scene shortly after the attack but the man had fled. Forensic specialists cordoned off the scene to search for clues and everyone at the gathering was spoken to, but the man is yet to be identified. Clear CCTV footage has been recovered from the tower block’s systems and we are now appealing for anyone who recognises the man to come forward. He is described as aged around 27 and Somalian. He was wearing a striped short sleeved polo shirt and a distinctive red cap.
