They want people who actually graduated from CSUDH because you know the campus, have connections, etc. Job Opening CSU Health Insurance Education Project Campus Coordinator POSITION OVERVIEW: Coordinate outreach activities educating students, their families and campus staff about insurance options under the new national health reform law and Covered California. Assume responsibility for day to day organization of campus efforts. Work under the direction of project leadership at CSULA. Campus-based faculty or other supervisor may be present. SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES: Working with project leaders at CSULA, assume campus leadership of efforts to explain the new law and the new options for accessing insurance and how they will affect students and their families. Arrange for forums, classroom presentations, tabling activities, participation in health fairs, orientations, and other activities that will facilitate education of the students and others. (50%) Contact multiple students and campus organizations about the new insurance program. Encourage those organizations to employ their resources –including email, web pages, social media-- to educate students. (20%) Offer one-on-one sessions for individual students and provide opportunities for students to enroll either with personal assistance from Enrollment Counselors via a state web page. (20%) Keep project manager and project director informed on all activities and data collection. (10%) Work at least 20 hours per week. REQUIRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE Ability to lead and motivate others Experience and high comfort level with making presentations before student audiences Ability to work independently and with limited supervision Ability to work as a self-starter Creativity and initiative in devising a specific outreach and education plan for a particular CSU campus Solid organizational skills and confidence in reaching out to individuals and organizatiions Preferred; graduate student standing or bachelor’s degree Preferred: status as graduate student in graduate of a department of public health or health science or related field. Preferred: current or recent enrollment in the university at which individual will be employed Not required: In-depth knowledge of health insurance issues. Some training on these will be provided
