CYC organises Africa/Europe Regional Youth Forum The Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) is organising Youth Forums in all the regions in the Commonwealth starting from the Africa/EU region. These Youth Forums will be a parallel events to the regional Youth Ministers Meetings, which will be held across the regions in this year. The 1st Africa/EU Regional Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting (AR-CYMM) is scheduled to hold in Yaoundé, Cameroon on 8-10 February 2014. In parallel to the AR-CYMM, the Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) in partnership with the Commonwealth Secretariat, the Government of Cameroon and National Youth Council will host the Commonwealth Africa Youth Forum on the 8th of February 2015. The meeting brings together Ministers with responsibility for youth affairs, senior government officials, youth representatives and other invited stakeholders from Commonwealth countries in Africa. In the context of AR- CYMM’s theme: ‘Young People building a safe and sustainable future’, the Youth Forum will allow for youth focused dialogue on the three main themes: a) Role of Youth in the Post 2015 Development Framework (African Perspective); b) Role of Youth Commonwealth Youth Policy Priorities (2015-2030); • Youth Participation and Civic Education• • Employment and Entrepreneurship• • Youth Work Profesionalisation • Health and Wellbeing of young people c) Role of youth Enhancing National Youth Policy Frameworks The Youth Forum will provide a platform for young people t to engage through interactive sessions, sharing of knowledge and best practices, policy consultations for the ministers meeting as well as agenda items for the upcoming Commonwealth Youth Forum and CYC General Assembly in Malta 2015. During the meeting, delegates will focus on regional and global youth development challenges and opportunities, including new global development goals for 2015 and beyond. Delegates will take stock of current trends in youth development in Africa and identify strategies and priorities for future action to advance youth empowerment in the Commonwealth. The AR-CYMM is a follow-up to the 8th Commonwealth Youth Ministers Meeting held in April 2013 in Papua New Guinea, which brought together Youth Ministers, senior government officials and young leaders from across the 53 nations of the Commonwealth to discuss youth policy priorities. Similar meetings are being planned for other regions of the Commonwealth including Asia, Caribbean, and Pacific.
