CZECH REPUBLIC SUMMER ACTIVITIES CYCLING Thanks to a dense network of cycling trails everybody will find the level suitable for them. The country is crisscrossed with hundreds of km of trails such as international routes Prague - Vienna Greenways, long distance paths or local family runs. The terrain is diverse from mostly flat lowlands in South Moravia and South Bohemia to more challenging options in the Czech mountains - Sumava National Park, Krkonose National Park. But the activity is not restricted to national parks or biosphere reserves. You can cycle practically anywhere it suits you. CYCLING & WINE Wine tasting and cultural heritage perfectly complement active holidays. The terrain of the wine region in South Moravia is mostly gently undulating with detours to viewing points. It travels past rows of cellars and links the best known wine producing villages. The routes take cyclists (or walkers) along quiet back roads or country tracks across fields and through forests. Plenty of accommodation is available. Some 165km in length, the Znojemská route is the longest of them all. Highlights on the way - historical town of Znojmo, impressive Gothic ruins of the monastery in Dolní Kounice. Another excellent Mikulovská route takes you into the exquisite surroundings of the Lednice-Valtice Park known as the Garden of Europe for its sumptuousness and was declared a UNESCO-protected site. If you like red wines take theVelkopavlovická route which passes through the undulating landscape of the Modré Mountains. Detailed maps of all routes are readily available. NR. 1 EUROPEAN MTB TRAIL The Singltrek trails around Mount Smrk in Jizera Mountains are the first of their kind in the Czech Republic and continental Europe, they were rated as one of the seven best mountain bike destinations in the world by the IMBA. There are different trails for different level of ability. From green trail for beginners, children up to red trail for dynamic ride. They follow old routes that were created in the early 20th century, meander between the trees, and never run level, uphill or downhill for long. They fully respect the woodland environment but are designed for you to enjoy your ride to the max.
