Cabo was caught unaware by the incredibly INSTANTANEOUS deluge that happened here tonight. Richard looked out from the back porch to check on him and could see him just standing motionless in the pouring rain - lots of lightning and thunder all around! He went out and threw a lead rope around his neck but Cabo just wanted to keep his head down to protect himself. He was frozen with fear, it seemed. I watched from the porch until Richard yelled for me to bring the keys to unlock the front door of the barn. I tried and tried to coax Cabo into his stall but there was a wall of water pouring down at the entrance. We had to lure him through the front door with his feed scoop full of feed and apple treats. This is a logistical challenge, to be sure, and he is normally not even allowed to enter the barn that way. The poor baby! We finally got him into his stall but hes soaking wet and pretty nervous - even did some ear pinning when we tried to pet him. Hoping hes calmer when we go out to check on him later.
