Now Japan is the 3rd largest importer of coffee. Japanese cafes are a strange thing. You will find many high-end meetings, business negotiations, salesmen selling all kinds of goods and lessons taking place mixed with your normal cool, chatty older women-it can be more like a marketplace than our understanding of a coffee shop. It is a thriving industry with many well-known and independent chains. The bigger chains have used big big named people such as Tommy Lee Jones, Ewan MacGregor and Brad Pitt to be their spokesmen.
