Cairns Occupational Therapy can provide case management services for people who require complex rehabilitation following a motor vehicle accident. With insurer approval, we are able to conduct an Initial Needs Assessment (INA) utilising a holistic approach and develop a rehabilitation plan in consultation with the injured person, family and treating professionals. Client-centred goal setting in self-care, leisure, household management and return to work activities focus on the person’s skills and strengths and functional capacity. An OT case manager will liaise with all parties to assist and support the person to achieve their rehabilitation goals. Occupational Therapist’s providing case management services can additionally provide activities of daily living assessment, equipment prescription, functional education in the home or work re: task modification, training in the use of equipment to facilitate participation in pre-injury activities, environmental modification and assessment of the need for support services.
