Cairo, Egypt 2011 - Reda Abdelaziz Mohamed is not crying. His left eye constantly weeps, his right, has been blinded forever. Nineteen-year-old Reda (Arabic word meaning ‘contentment’) was shot in his eyes by police. He was on Mohamed Mahmoud Street in downtown Cairo to support protesters in an ongoing battle against security forces off Tahrir Square. Speaking here, Reda recounts the moment it happened: I picked him up (dead protester) and as I was half way up, I looked around and then the bullet came. That was it - I have not seen anything since.” In the absence of accurate statistics, it is estimated more than 7,000 people were wounded in Egypt’s revolution and frequent clashes that followed and thousands more have been killed.
