Cal Hardison has been training pastors in S. Asia for several years, using a model based on the apostle Pauls work in Acts. “It helps South Asian believers to tell the big picture, or meta narrative, of the Bible in a short story,” Hardison said, “basically a creation to church story, and then go back and grab a deeper understanding using inductive Bible Study methods to fill in more of the key stories in each of the time periods through Scripture.” This year, Hardison led a group of men for the first time in how to share the Creation to Church story in a short yet enticing manner. After three short days, 17 men left with the ability to tell the meta-narrative story. “All left encouraged and pumped,” Hardison said, “almost as if light bulbs had come on and the fog was clearing.” Many of these men never get the opportunity to attend a Bible college or seminary, so these short monthly trainings are the only opportunity they have to grow in their knowledge of Scripture, outside of their own Bible reading. “We have to provide them the kind of inductive skills needed for them to grow spiritually and intellectually in the Word of God without all the bells and whistles that we are so often privy to in our Western culture.
