Call and Job description for the Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (EJRNM) Egyptian Journal of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (EJRNM) is a scientific journal, owned by the Egyptian Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine (ESRNM). EJRNM publishes high-quality original papers and short communications in the field of radiology. Authors and researchers are provided with an established platform for the publication of scientific material in a quick and professional way. Production and Hosting by Elsevier B.V. on behalf of the Egyptian Society of Radiology and Nuclear Medicine. Timeline The ESRNM Board of Directors now wishes to identify the new Editor-in-Chief and Associate Editors during the latter part of 2014 so that there can be a gradual handover of responsibilities following announcement of the new Editors before 1/3/2015. Post and preconditions The post (initially for a period of five years) is open to established radiologists who are practising radiology at staff/consultant level at a renowned institution. They should have a demonstrably strong record in scientific publication and experience of editorial work, at least at Editorial Board level, for an internationally respected radiological journal. It is envisaged that the Editor-in-Chief should be able to invest the majority of his/her professional week to the journal. Duties of the Editor-in-Chief: • Oversee all aspects of the journal’s peer-review process. • Close liaison with Deputy Editors, Section Editors and Editorial board. • Develop and maintain a keen and enthusiastic Editorial Board. • Work closely with Subspecialty Societies. • Report regularly to the ESRNM leadership on the performance of the journal. • Co-ordination with all staff working on EJRNM. • Visit international conferences and Editors’ meetings to promote the journal. • Close co-operation with editors of other national, regional and continent journals. Duties of the Associate Editors o Prompt dissemination of submitted papers out for expert review o Prompt and courteous handling of decisions o Prompt handling of queries and complaints. o Identification of suitable topics for editorials and commentaries. o Provide encouragement of and feedback to all Authors/Reviewers. Qualities required: • A wide knowledge of most branches of radiology. • An international reputation as a research radiologist. • An understanding of how radiological practice varies from country to country. • Ability to network effectively with radiologists across Middle East and worldwide. • A dynamic, well-organized and reliable character with an ability to meet deadlines. • High standard of written and spoken English.
