Call for Art The West Chicago City Museum invites artist to nominate themselves for consideration to be included in the 2013-2014 exhibit “Where History and Progress Meet.” Artists will be chosen to create original work inspired by an artifact from the Museum’s permanent collection. Artists will work closely with Director Sara Phalen and exhibit co-curator Anni Holm to choose an artifact for inspiration from which to create a new piece. Artists’ creations will be displayed alongside the museum artifact which inspired the new piece during the exhibition. We encourage participants from a range of media including visual arts: sculpture, painting, photography, printmaking and site specific installations. Submissions: Artists are asked to submit an artist statement, bio and exhibition history and up to 3 samples of prior work in jpeg format to Sara Phalen, Director at wegohistory@gmail or 132 Main Street, West Chicago, IL 60185. Deadline: Artists will be selected on an ongoing basis up until August 20, 2013. Exhibition dates: “Where History and Progress Meet” will open Friday, December 6, 2013 and close Sunday, April 19, 2014.
