Call for Papers 3rd Annual German Undergraduate Research Conference Illinois Wesleyan University Conference Dates: 4-5 April 2014 Submission Deadline: 15 February 2014 Language of Conference: German Conference Website: iwu.edu/german/conference/ Keynote Speaker: Prof. Cyrus Shahan, Colby College “Die ‘härteste Band von allen’: die RAF, ästhetische Gewalt und westdeutscher Punk.” The German Program at Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, IL will host its 3rd-Annual German Undergraduate Research Conference during the spring semester of 2014. The purpose of this conference is to provide an outlet for students from any field of research engaging with any area of German Studies to present their research to their peers and to receive feedback in an academic setting. Since this conference is open to all advanced-level undergraduate students at any university in North America, it will afford those attending an excellent opportunity not only to network with others researching in the field, but also to discuss their own academic and study abroad experiences with students from different universities and academic backgrounds. Presenting at this conference will also provide students with valuable experience that will be relevant to any field of post-graduation work or study being considered. IWU’s German Undergraduate Research Conference will take place on Friday & Saturday, 4-5 April 2014 There are two possible presentation formats at the GURC: a 15-minute paperpresentation or participation in a postersession. Paper presenters will be grouped into panels by topic. Poster presentations consist of a standard-sized poster board highlighting the key aspects of the research on the topic at hand and outlining the conclusions reached. Presenters stand by their posters and answer questions about their research. Advanced-level undergraduates researching an original thesis in any area of German Studies are invited to present their work. The language of this conference is German; the abstract should be submitted in German and papers and posters will be presented in German. All presenters, regardless of presentation format, will have the opportunity to have their work published through IWU’s Digital Commons online archive of scholarly work. Website: digitalcommons.iwu.edu There is no registration fee; on-campus housing (with student hosts) and most meals are provided. Travel grants for presenters are available; information on how to apply will be disseminated to all presenters.
