Call for Papers Tourism Review International (TRI) is calling for Expressions of Interest (EOI) to submit papers for a themed issue on Tourism Aesthetics. Aesthetics is a visual language, which is particularly influential in tourism. Despite the important role aesthetics plays, it is little discussed formally in the tourism literature. On one hand aesthetics helps mediate the tourists interpretation of the tourism landscape thereby affecting experience. The role of aesthetics in tourist photography is particularly powerful, thus it not only frames experience while on-site, but shapes the memory of tourist spaces after the fact. On the other hand, tourism marketers, aware of the role aesthetics plays in tourists interpretations, utilize this same language in marketing destinations. Many, if not most, tourism campaigns feature examples of the beautiful, the pastoral and the sublime contained within the nation or region of interest. Additionally, tourism sites themselves, whether constructed for tourism or for another purpose, also have aesthetic content that works to elicit a particular response from those visiting the site. In the EOI, please indicate the proposed focus and how it aligns with Tourism Aesthetics. Additionally, provide a summary of the paper and its proposed contributions (200 words). Return your EOI [email protected] We welcome Research Papers (5,000-8,000 words) and Research Notes (500-1,500 words), and please indicate in the EOI which you are proposing. While individually authored papers will be considered, TRI encourages the submission of multiple authored papers, multi-national authorship teams, and experienced researchers partnering with emerging researchers in authorship teams.
