Call for expressions of interest Project Butterfly Silent Auction Exhibition Expression of Interest deadline: 1 February 2014 Project Butterfly is a support group for families who have suffered the unimaginable loss of a child. They require funding to continue supporting grieving families with emotional support and require funding to help with the construction of ‘The Butterfly Project’ a memorial path at Fairfield Park. The path is a way of making our children become part of the history of Nelson. I think every parents dreams are shattered when a child dies. They no longer get to make their mark. But the path is a way of making their names part of our history. They will never be forgotten because they are now a permanent fixture in Nelson. (Rebekah Malthus, Nelson Mail 2013) The pathway could be a positive place for families to help fill the big void the death of a child left. The exhibitions objective is to raise funds for this cause as well as promoting local artists. It is a commission free event with the Refinery donating their costs. 60% of sales go to The Butterfly Project and 40% to artists. The theme is Belonging and Lost, artists are to create work based on their interpretation of this theme. No restrictions, can be anything, wall hung, free standing, installation, no size restrictions.
