Call for international interns for 2015 in Central Asia Are you interested in a meaningful opportunity to acquire practical work experience in your field of study while gaining a better understanding of Save the Children and increased knowledge of international development assistance in the non-profit sector? Nature of Assignment Save the Children has been working in Central Asia since 1994 when Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan declared independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union. It is one of 120 countries where the world’s leading independent organization for children works successfully and with dedication to inspire breakthroughs in the way children are treated, and to achieve lasting changes in their lives by bettering health, education, rural livelihoods, nutrition and agriculture, women’s rights, disaster preparedness and child protection. Save the Children in Central Asia is looking for motivated and talented young professionals to be deployed in Tajikistan and/or Kyrgyzstan as young experts in our key intervention above as well as in areas of communications/reporting and M&E. For more information on our activities see: centralasia.savethechildren.net Save the Children offers the opportunity to practice what you have been learning during your courses, to challenge yourself in a new country and to further your professional capabilities. Internships are structured during the summer (May to Sept.) for between 2-5 months in duration. A detailed scope of work will be agreed upon matching an interns interests/skills and the country office needs. Interns will work under the direct supervision of an experienced staff member, within a specific department. Eligibility: • Candidate who is an actively enrolled undergraduate or graduate student or has recently graduated within 1 year prior to a session deployment date • Submission of resume, cover letter of interest, and at least one reference • Proficiency in English language • Russian and/or Tajik/Kyrgyz languages would be advantageous but not essential Interns are not financially remunerated by Save the Children. In addition all costs connected with program will be borne by the intern, including travel and housing and in-country expenses. Save the Children will facilitate all possible processes to ensure the terms and arrangements are in place and provide guidance for travel, housing and costs of living. Candidates may find internship support measures exist through your academic departments and Save the Children will be happy to connect with them if necessary to assist the internship process.
