Call for nominations to the Virginia A. Miralao Excellence in Research Award. Deadline of nominations: 30 December 2014. The Virginia A. Miralao Excellence in Research Award aims to honor the invaluable contributions of former PSSC Executive Director, Dr. Virginia A. Miralao, to the development of social sciences in the Philippines and her own sterling record of scholarship. It is intended to serve as an incentive for young social scientists to pursue original and meaningful research. It shall provide a yearly cash prize for the best article in a social science journal/book written by a promising young scholar in the profession. The awardee shall be given a cash prize of PhP20,000.00 Eligibilty To qualify for the award, an individual must: 1. Be no more than 40 years old at the time of application; 2. Have published a single authorship article/chapter in a refereed journal/book, either local or international. The journal article/book chapter should have been published within the 12-month period prior to nomination deadline; 3. Be a member of a PSSC regular or associate member-organization; 4. Be nominated by a PSSC regular or associate member-organization. member-organizations can nominate a maximum of two young social scientists for this award; and 5. Have a university rank of not higher than Associate Professor. Nomination Procedures 1. The following documents must be submitted by the nominating organization to the PSSC Secretariat: -Accomplished nomination form -Copy of the published journal article/book chapter -Copy of the CV of the candidate 2.All documents must be received by the PSSC Secretariat no later than 30 December 2014. Incomplete submissions will not be reviewed by PSSC. 3.
