Callie Marshall has had a rough few days. Her pain increased after they had decreased her pain meds so it was a rough day until they got her back on a dosage to control the pain and added an additional med that should help long term. Yesterday her blood sugar went to where is was over 600 and the machine couldnt read it. That was at 2pm, it has been high but had gotten worse. The nurses called the doctor with our recommendation to start an insulin drip...she refused and wanted to wait until 9 to see what it was ( she did order insulin during that time, but not in the dosage that would make a difference in Callie). They called in the hospitalist to asses about 9:30 and at ten they checked her blood sugar with the lab to see what it actually was... 822. The doctor then agreed to an insulin drip. They had to call in an extra nurse so it took a while, but her blood sugar in now 297. Her blood pressure has been low today too. Please keep her in your prayers!
