Calls for proposals: investigative photography and documentary projects – IOM Regional Office for MENA Dear list members, The International Organization for Migration (IOM) in Cairo, Egypt is issuing a request for expression of interest in order to invite talented and innovative photojournalists to submit their ideas for investigative photography and documentary projects which depict different aspects of complex migration flows in the region. Photographs and short documentaries have the unique ability to bring stories and investigative journalism to life. They can therefore add much weight to IOM’s work on complex migration flows along the North-Eastern African Migratory Route and North Africa, whether it is for advocacy, awareness-raising or building the knowledge base on such flows. It is in the context of these complex flows that IOM’s Regional Office for MENA has established the inter-agency Migration Coordination Task Force for the North-Eastern African Migratory Route and North Africa (MTF-NOAH). This Task Force aims to respond to complex migration flows and uphold the rights of migrants along the North-Eastern African route and in North Africa. Migrants transiting along these routes often experience considerable abuse and exploitation. IOM hopes that the work of the Task Force will contribute to reducing the exploitation, abuse and trafficking of migrants along the migratory routes of the region. IOM is looking for works that would document some of the extraordinary and sometimes tragic phenomena associated with migration flows and tell the stories of migrants in the region.
