Calls for urgent realignment of laws: Legal experts have called for the legislature to urgently set up a body to realign laws to the constitution if the process is to be executed before the end of the 8th parliament’s lifespan. Government has 450 pieces of legislation which are not in harmony with the country’s new constitution and legal experts feel it is the mandate of the legislature to ensure that the harmonisation of laws is done immediately. Legal expert Itai Ndudzo says in the absence of a substantive Attorney General, the legislature has to set up a commission constituted of the law makers and present a General Laws Amendment Act if it is to succeed in the realignment process.
