Calls to Members of the U.S. House of Representatives (updated July 8, 2013) On Wednesday, July 10, House Republicans will meet to determine whether to bring an immigration reform bill to the floor for a vote. They—and their Democratic colleagues—need to hear from you: “The time is now—I demand a vote on common-sense immigration reform!” You can reach your House member through the Capitol Switchboard, 202-224-3121, or by dialing directly into their offices (office numbers are available at house.gov/representatives/). Our intermediate goal is to get comprehensive immigration reform legislation to a conference committee of select Senate and House members that will produce a final bill. We are halfway there, thanks to the passage of S. 744 – Border Security, Economic Opportunity, and Immigration Modernization Act by the Senate. Now we need the other half—a House bill. Call your House member and House leadership today (Capitol Switchboard, 202-224-3121; office numbers are available at house.gov/representatives/ ). Your call can make the difference for 11 million aspiring New Americans. Sample scripts have been provided below. I know that you will be meeting with the Republican membership in the House tomorrow. As a person of faith, I urge you to speak up in that meeting and ask for an immigration reform bill that prioritizes a pathway to citizenship and family unity—preferably the recently passed Senate bill—to be brought to the House floor for a vote. The time for common-sense immigration reform is NOW!
