Calvin College Ecosystem Preserve Yes it snowed last night in West Michigan but spring is fast approaching and that means it is time to begin thinking about spring and summer landscaping. One great way to make your garden more environmentally friendly, sustainable and easier to care for is by including native plants. The Calvin College Ecosystem Preserve will be hosting its 8th Annual Native Plant Sale this May. All proceeds benefit the Preserve’s Wetlands and Woodlands summer camp program. We will have expert staff members and volunteers on site to help you choose plants to create a beautiful, inexpensive, and sustainable garden! The plant community usually is the largest visible part of an ecosystem, and often survive the conditions of their natural region. Many questions about native plants can be answered by attending the 8th Annual Native Plant Sale. Example of questions you may ask, do native plants need special attention such as fertilizer, weeding, or watering? This is always a fun way to experience the out doors, educate your children, and most of all know that your purchase of plants will benefit the environment in several ways. Have fun this spring! Do you manage a web site? Do you live in West Michigan? If you answer yes to either of these questions you can contact Jeanette Henderson to help in promoting the 8th Annual Native Plant Sale by either attending or freely advertising this event, here is her email address: [email protected]. You can alternatively call Jeanette at the following number: 616-526-7601 Be kind to the environment, if not you who then?
