Came across the research paper we wrote last year for experimental psych. Fun/ stressful times. Here is the abstract!!! Abstract Microexpressions are a window to a person’s unconscious mind and emotions. They provide an accurate account to when an individual is attempting to conceal genuine emotions. Microexpressions last for a fraction of a second, and thus can only be found immediately after concealment of an expression. In order to detect and measure these difficult to read microexpressions, Ekman and Friesen (1978, 2003) developed the Facial Action Coding System (FACS). FACS then evolved into the Microexpression Training Tool (M.E.T.T.) and is the training tool used in this experiment. The hypothesis for this experiment was tested by measuring the accuracy of participants with and without M.E.T.T Final results found while there was no difference in the scores compared to each condition, there was a significant difference when results were compared to zero.
