Came across this, and it hurts my heart, so now Im pulling out my soapbox for a minute. These women say they dont need Feminism: because the Feminism theyre referring to is the trumped up, dramatic, poor-me, derogatory kind that is used as a punching bag by most people. NO ONE needs That Feminism. Real, practical, meaningful Feminism is Not about being feminine, being a victim, pointing fingers, and bemoaning the sad state of things for poor girls. It IS about recognizing and rejecting the patriarchal elements of our society that tell girls to be girly, boys to be manly, girls to be demure, boys to be aggressive, that tells girls they are the victims and boys they are the protagonists. Feminism does NOT seek to raise women over men or penalize men for their successes. It seeks to allow people to be the people they want to be. For humans to be humans. EVERYONE needs That Feminism. Sorry to break it to you ladies, but you are all Feminists. The good kind, the kind that doesnt take no shit from nobody, that refuses labels that do not fit, the kind who will not be victimized, the kind who raises their voice for others.
