Camila Dias was a 20-year-old girl full of life that had her life turned upside down as a result of a succession of medical errors. It all started eight months ago when she was about to give birth to her daughter “Clarice” in the hospital “Amparo Maternal (SP)”. After spending some time on the drip the doctors on duty decided to do a caesarian, as she had not dilated enough to have a normal birth. As soon as she was released from the hospital her relatives noticed that she was still extremely swollen. Soon after, Camila started complaining that he scar was burning and leaking more than it should have. She also felt out of breath and started coughing non-stop. Back at the “Amparo Maternal (SP)” hospital the doctor on duty said that Camila’s scar needed attention, no exams were ever done however, in the attempt to detect if anything else was wrong. Soon after her condition rapidly deteriorated and it was only then that the hospital decided to look into the matter further. The results came back and Camila had contracted a hospital infection. Unfortunately it was much too late for any treatment, as the infection had already spread through her blood stream. Camila went into cardiac arrest for twenty minutes and went into a coma. She is now in a completely vegetative state. The “Amparo Maternal” transferred Camila to the “Interlagos Hospital (SP)” but never provided any assistance. No investigations have taken place on the apparent hospital malpractice. Today Camila is at the rehabilitation centre of “Dr Arnaldo Pezutti Cavalcante” in Mogi – SP, however this centre is extremely far from her home, making it virtually impossible for her family to travel to the centre to ensure that Camila is getting the attention that she needs and clearly deserves. Please help us. We are not looking for money, but for media attention, so that hopefully Camila will have the justice that she needs and the chance to receive proper treatment closer to her family, in the hope of any sort of recovery.
